We all remember, as a child, We had great care for animals. I once fought to keep a kitten, and then a dog. My parents said they were dirty animals. I would respond, but I love them. That soon turned into a battle and endless agony for animal lovers as “dirty” grasslands turned into “clean” buildings. And we slowly, but surely lost humanity, and headed towards our own extinction – and most other species.
A Car run over a dog – And nobody took notice except
In Jaisalmer, a small event occurred and nobody took notice. A car run over a dog! For most, this was trivial and nobody took notice, except Puneet!! While coming from office, he saw a dog lying – injured, covered in mud as it fell in sewage and destined to die.
He did the right thing, He cleaned him up and with the help of his employees, and took him to a vet. The doctor treated him and gave medications; fortunately, there was no fractures, just injuries.
Now, I don’t have photos of the dog lying in the street because they didn’t take photos, rather, they took him to the doctor first. And only after they placed him on that metal sheet, that they took these shots.
Coming to home, after their care, he looked completely different
As it turned out, the dog looked completely different after he was cleaned and medicated. He was refusing to eat much though.
But they kept trying and kept him in the sun so that it can dry out. And after he was dry, he looked like this.
Then he took to XDA OFF-TOPIC GROUP on facebook where he got massive respect, and where I have also found this story. He asked for suggestions if he should adopt him or not, especially after he probably has a family cause a female dog was desperately looking at him (she was his mother). Some people, including I have asked him to return the dog to other dogs, because he will stay healthy with them.
For that night, the dog was immobile, and couldn’t walk, and Puneet and his friends gave him proper care and shelter. And this is how he looked.
The next day, on 18th December, 2017, he thought of bringing his family together. And they were right, the female dog was indeed his mother. And this is how they rejoiced their reunion.
See, how well they behave. And I am pretty sure, we, as XDA OTians, shared that joy. And I requested him if I could write about his awesome work, he agreed. Because I wanted others to feel that warmth too.
Bye bye, Happy Ending. Or is it?
You may think, the dog is saved, and all’s well. But the real problem is still there. One happy ending isn’t going to ensure a happy ending for all. This diwali, I wrote on the same issue, where a few people used crackers on a dog. I understand its beyond our control to save every animal. But its indeed within our reaches to minimize it. The results, in no way are minimal, rather in an all time high. And we can definitely minimize, if we start caring.
I would like to Thank Puneet, whose selfless act has saved a dog, and restored a family. While many people were asking him to adopt the dog, he acted sensibly, the dog would’ve gotten a family, but his family wouldn’t have gotten him back.
The Real Underlying Problem : No one cares
In my opinion, the real problem is that no one cares about others anymore. Everyone is busy, no one cares, everyone has their own “business”, their own “job”, but we forget our duty towards the nature. You might say you have no obligation towards the nature but it’s absurd not to love the nature, the nature is the process you are born! Return some love! No one finds the need to connect with nature. Those who do, they get hurt over and over when they see people hitting and running dogs (some of us even think of poor humans that way, though). They can either do one of two things, stay hurt and post on facebook, blog, like I do, or take part in saving them, like Puneet does.
To be serious, I have saved many animals and birds, got scolded for releasing rats out of their traps from my neighbors (they didn’t know I even fed the rats, and I am alive only because its illegal to trap/kill a human), but I never had the opportunity to save an animal like this. He had the opportunity and he did his best.
A Small Request: Please give me $50,000
You don’t have to. Just care for animals, that would be more than $50,000
And if you save enough animals, one of them will give you $50,000 in satisfaction and fulfillment. I know I am no one to beg their lives, but next time, drive carefully, both from humans and animals. And I find it quite justified to call such a person “criminal”.
